#VolcanoExtravaganza / The POP Magazine
An artist-run season of art, organized by the Fiorucci Art Trust, on the Italian island of Stromboli. And Yes, there’s a live Volcano.
Beginning this Monday 29 July, Glaswegian-born, Belgian-based artist Lucy McKenzie (You’ve seen her work at the Tate Modern’s recent show A Bigger Splash) will host the 3rd annual Volcano Extravaganza where artists, designers and creatives gather on the live volcanic island of Stromboli for a programme of talks, film screenings, exhibitions, fashion, dance, music and performance.
The theme is agatha Christie’s murder mystery ‘Evil Under the Sun’ and participants include Anthony Symonds (See POP Issue 28!), Peter Saville, Enrico David, Michael Bracewell, and Maria Hassabi (currently inhabiting the Cyprus pavillion at the Venice Biennale).
“An allusion to those who want to invest in the multiplicity and unexpected nature of encounters.”
